Twice on Tuesday

This past weekend we didn't go any where.  Didn't have swim practice or a football game either.  It was very relaxing.  Eric did have a birthday party to attend and Caroline had a friend spend Friday and Saturday night.  And this week has been busy one.  I helped in Will's class twice on Tuesday (once in the morning and again in the afternoon) and then for the heritage feast today.  Eric was with me helping with math Tuesday afternoon and was so easy to have there.  We also went to Caroline's class today for her colonial feast.  They had a colony project and then made food from those states.   Add gymnastics, football practice, swim practice, laundry, house cleaning, and cooking for Thanksgiving in as well.  The rest of the week includes Thanksgiving with friends, spending the night at the Hale Koa, and having dinner guests both Saturday and Sunday nights!
Will with his Sunday breakfast creation.
Caroline is running in her first 5K race tomorrow!  It's the same race Justin and Graham did last Thanksgiving.  There is a prize for the best costume so I made a tutu for Caroline.
My tulle ready to go.

Finished!  She loves it and has been wearing it around the house.
A trip to Costco in't any fun unless you pose with the giant stuffed mice!

Spelling practice and don't let that smile fool you.  He is never happy to do spelling work.
Caroline did a great job making her spice cookies almost completely by herself.
And then this afternoon Caroline comes to get me saying Will bit his tongue.  I get to him and he already has a bloody washcloth in his mouth.  He was playing tackle football with 3 other boys.  Stuff happens!  He now realizes why you have to wear a mouth guard.  He didn't bite through his tongue and it stopped bleeding pretty quickly.  It was right before dinner time and it's rare when Will says he doesn't want to eat.  He tried some pudding and pretzels.  They didn't work.  He told me he just wanted to go to bed (it was 6pm) and went to get his shower.  He felt better after that and I got him to tear little pieces off a slice of bread and eat them on his left side.  He also had 2 boiled eggs.  Not a big dinner for him but at least he ate something.
Don't let this picture fool you either.  He was in lots of pain and had finished crying a few minutes earlier.
I had the boys in bed, lights out at 7!  Here's hoping his tongue feels better for all the eating I know he wants to enjoy tomorrow!!

Electric Beach

Friday was another morning of fun adventures with some friends.  We try to go every other Friday.  Two weeks ago we hiked 5 miles and yesterday we went snorkeling at Electric Beach.  It's a beach across from the electric plant and the water is super warm (loved it).  After we got done we enjoyed lunch and then back home in time to get the kids from school.  It's a great way to have fun with friends, do different things, and enjoy being outside.
Our hike.

It was a beautiful morning.

We snorkeled out there.

We saw so many different kinds of fish and coral.  We were also able to swim with several turtles.  They are so fun to watch!

After
I had the GoPro too.  The above pictures were taken with my phone and the ones below with the GoPro.

The rest of the afternoon was busy with getting the kids from school, dropping Caroline off at swim, getting my tire repaired (nail was in it), pick up Caroline, go to a make up gymnastics class, run to Costco, back to get Caroline, then home for dinner.

Not sure what we are going to do in 2 weeks but I know it'll be lots of fun!!

Robotics, Running and Back hip circles

Caroline has been one busy girl lately!  She has been practicing for her robotics competition, training for her first 5k, going to swim team, going to gymnastic, and battling a cold.  Super Girl!!  The good thing is she hardly ever has homework but she is working on a big colony project presentation on google drive right now.
Her robotics competition was pretty much all day Saturday at a high school.  This is a First Lego League thing.  Their challenge has 3 parts:  the robot games, a project, and FLL core values.  There are interviews with judges, a question they had to answer, and then the robot to program to do certain tasks to earn points.  The question they had to research was "What is the future of learning? FIRST® LEGO® League teams will find the answers. In the 2014 FLL WORLD CLASS Challenge, over 265,000 children from 80 countries will redesign how we gather knowledge and skills in the 21st century. Teams will teach adults about the ways that kids need and want to learn. Get ready for a whole new class – FLL WORLD CLASS!
- See more at: http://www.firstlegoleague.org/#sthash.gShkdMjL.dpuf"  They answered that question by performing a skit and coming up with something like Google Glass that could show people in history live.

You can see more of the table.
Caroline has been running while Will has football practice twice a week.  It just so happens that those are also days she has gymnastics and swim practice!  There is a 1/2 mile track and each time she has been adding a lap.  Today she will run 3 miles!!  After her 90 minute swim practice.
Justin and Caroline running during Will's football practice.
This video is a little long.  They kids are trying to get the robot to open a door, put a ring on a pole and other tasks.  They had some technical difficulties.

Caroline has been practicing her back hip circle for a long time.  She needs this skill to try out for the next level.  It's the only thing she was missing to move on.  Monday she did it!!  The first video is of her practicing.  The second is when she gets it!  She even got it a few more times as well.

Caroline, your dad and I are so very proud of all that you are doing!!!  We love you very much!

Didn't ruin it

So Saturday while we were at Pililaau I stepped on a Sea Urchin.  It was after 4pm and Gina and I (and Eric) were catching waves in the kayak.  A big wave knocked us over and when we went to flip the kayak I hit the bottom and the urchin.  I had spines in both my big toes!  Most of them were in my left big toe.  We got back to the beach and Justin came to help and a wave knocked the kayak into his knee (still bothering him).  Then I crawled out of the ocean and sat in the sand.  The lifeguards had already left for the day so our friends googled what to do.  Justin gave me a piggy back ride back to the cabin and Eddie went tot he store to get vinegar to soak my toes.  The vinegar dissolved the spines enough that I could just scrape them off.  Then got my shower and went to dinner!

A week later and it's slowly getting better.  Still some stinging pain if I step wrong on my toe.  The right big toe is not bad since there was maybe 5 spines total in that toe and most of them were under my toenail.  So as soon as I got them out it wasn't painful anymore.
It's just one of those things that happens.  I usually wear water shoes but didn't since I was kayaking.  I will now!  And this hurts worse than getting stung by a Portugese Man of War!
But as the title suggests, this didn't ruin my weekend and Sunday was still a great beach day!

Pililaau

We spent last weekend at the cabins at Pililaau Army Recreation Center.  Two other families joined us, our cabins were all in a row, and had views of the ocean!  It was great!  The kids and I went down Friday after Caroline got done with swim practice.  We got there and I grilled dinner while the kids unloaded the car.  Justin came down after work.  After the kids went to bed the adults sat outside, listening to the waves, and enjoying great company.  Saturday Justin took Will back up to Schofield to his football game.  We enjoyed a day on the beach and kayaked, surfed, paddle-surfed (standing on a paddle board catching waves, paddle boarding, snorkeled, and just had fun.  Sunday morning was more of the same before leaving around 2pm to head home.

Kids sports day

Also on Eric's birthday they happened to be having a kid's sports day within walking distance of our house!  The big kids get out of school at 1:10 on Wednesdays, so on our walk home we stopped at the football field/running track where they were having the event.  The kids played for an hour or so doing: golf, football, basketball, soccer, fencing, long jump, and an obstacle course.  They had a blast!  Will mostly stayed at football, no surprise!
Here are some videos of the kids enjoying after school fun.

Then after playing we walked the rest of the way home, had a snack, took Caroline to swim, Will did his homework, then back to pick up Caroline, then took Will to football practice.  Then we got to celebrate Eric!!

Happy Birthday E!!

Eric turned 4 last Wednesday!  He enjoyed his birthday day and then today we celebrated at Wet n' Wild.  After waiting all day to open presents (had to have the whole family there) he was a happy boy.

He had to go to the bathroom!

Blowing out his candle.  He wanted chocolate cupcakes with mint chocolate chip icing.  They were yummy!

He doesn't like to get food on his hands, so he ate it like this!

While we were at the PX earlier in the day he saw a green dinosaur piƱata.  So I bought it!  He so enjoyed it!

Happy Birthday sweet Eric!  We love you so much.
