I scream, you scream

Last night after dinner we stopped and got some ice cream. Baskin Robbins now has at least 1 flavor that Will can have. He is very much a go-with-the-flow kinda kid when it involves his food limitations. He does not mind which flavor is available he just wants some!
Eric's favorite is mint chocolate chip!!!

Justin's birthday

Wednesday we celebrated Justin's 35th year!  He was able to come home early and we enjoyed fried chicken, mac and cheese, and peas. The requested dessert was a lemon meringue pie!  I had never attempted to make one and it turned out surprisingly tasty. No runny custard or weepy meringue!  And I think I've finally learned how to spell meringue!

The big kids also made this beautiful poster for Justin!
Happy birthday Justin!  We love you!

Brave

My big kids are some  kind of brave!!!  I was one scared, nervous momma (as evidence of my scream in the video!) watching them stand way up on that rock contemplating the long way down.  Will has wanted to jump since the first time we went to Waimea Bay.  We kept putting him off but now that he is 7 he said he was ready.  So after Eric got up from his nap we loaded up the car and took off.  The waves are starting to get big on the north shore and there were lots more surfers.  We are excited about seeing the super big waves this winter.

You can hear Will crying when he comes back to the surface.  He was fine, just smacked his face on the water.  We also jumped from the lower rock you can see in the videos.  And after jumping from there a few times he was ready to go back to the big rock!

This video is to show the waves.  Pretty neat how they don't really crash onto shore.  Will just enjoyed washing up to shore with the waves and being pulled back out.  Pretty fun stuff!

Slip-n-slide

I was trying to get this video uploaded into the other post.  It wouldn't but it did through youtube.  Go figure!  The sliding like a baseball player is what made my neck sore.  I will do it again though!

More fun

So Justin and I decided that we would join in on the fun!  While it was fun we felt like we had been in a car wreck the next morning!!  Talk about feeling OLD.

Still partying!

The next morning before school all 3 kids were busy playing with Will's army guys and setting them up.  I love when they can all 3 play together with the same toy so well together.  Then Saturday was the  party day with friends and neighbors!  We rented an inflatable slip-n-slide, had hot dogs, brats, chips, and fruit.  Of course Will wanted another shark cake, but I had lots of trouble with the icing.  Actually had to throw out the first batch and go with store bought.  I had used all the black I had earlier with the first batch so it was a white shark with gray sprinkles this year.  I had trouble with the pie crust and had to make 2 of those as well.  Oh well!
We had a huge crowd and every one enjoyed themselves.  We asked for guests to bring food to donate to the food pantry instead of gifts.  We have a laundry basket full of food to donate!!

A whole lot of a la mode

Will turned 7 on the 12th!!  He had a great day even though he had to go to school. After school we went to the pool and we had fun diving in the deep end. Then home for poppy seed chicken and apple pie!  Earlier in the week I had explained what a la mode meant. He agreed that he would like his apple pie a la mode for his birthday. So he actually had 2 kinds of ice cream in the bowl with his apple pie!  So he was eating his pie and his comment was " there's a whole lot of a la mode in here!"

He didn't eat the pie but he sure did like the ice cream!

The Birds, the birds

I hung a bird feeder outside our dining room window a few weeks ago. It took almost a week for the birds to find it, but they have now!  About every 2 days I'm having to refill it!  We have some cardinals and this other type if bird ( I have been told the name twice but it doesn't stick with me!).  Caroline says they look like little mini penguins. We all enjoy watching and hearing them. The kids like it when they fight for a spot. They will peck at the birds feet above them to get them to move or just fly into one another.

Cup Song

I love when Caroline learns stuff like this at school.  One Friday afternoon her teacher decided they needed a little break and taught the class how to do this.  Caroline would learn fun things similar to this when she was in Montessori school.  She LOVES this kinda thing.  She has been singing the song for the past few weeks too.
Here is the song
Caroline wanted to show her brothers what she was talking about so we watched one night after dinner.  This is Eric's version
Not bad Eric!!

Puppy sitting

My neighbor, Shakira, had surgery on the 5th to get rid of cervicle cancer. I volunteered us to watch her 12 week old puppy Bodhi. He is very puppy and we don't plan on having a puppy in the house again!  Miles tolerated Bodhi very well and was quick about putting him in his place if he needed it. Miles took a long nap after Bodhi left today!!!

Hanauma Bay

We made it to another beautiful beach Monday. It was a great place to snorkel. Very crowded but worth it!

Student council

Caroline was nominated by her teacher and chose to run for 2nd vice-president.  Justin and I were so very proud of her!!  She prepared a 1 minute speech and stood up on stage in front of all the 4th and 5th graders. So very brave! That would be about 12 classes worth of students.
She made the first cut and went on to the general election. She gave her speech again but didn't get elected. She didn't seem too disappointed and said she'd try again next year. That's my girl!!

The video is when she gave her speech the first time.  Her teacher took the video with her phone and texted it too me.
